Today marks a significant milestone for HEXWORKS and CI Games: Lords of the Fallen launches in just four weeks’ time on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation®5! Over recent months, we’ve started to share more and more about what will be one of our most important ever new releases, so we wanted to recap some of the amazing highlights.

In July, we held two hands-on preview events – one in Los Angeles, the other in London – with dozens of the world’s biggest games press in attendance, including IGN, Gamesradar, PC Gamer, Gamestar, Jeuxvideo, and Game Informer, as well as top influencers like Jesse Cox and Alanah Pearce. They experienced the opening couple of hours of Lords of the Fallen, including an epic boss encounter with Pieta. The response from the events was overwhelmingly positive, with IGN describing Lords of the Fallen as ‘the first true ‘next-gen’ soulslike’ and Gamesradar calling the game’s visuals ‘jaw-droppingly impressive’.

British and Australian gamers might have also noticed that Lords of the Fallen was the cover game of Future’s Play magazine, while throughout August, IGN produced a series of video features as part of its IGN First initiative that included a look at its coop mode, a breakdown of the three schools of magic to master in the game, and a series of combat tips direct from some of the developers at HEXWORKS.

In August, the games world turned its attention to Cologne and Gamescom, where Lords of the Fallen formed part of the incredible line up of games showcased during Geoff Keighley’s Opening Night Live show. ONL debuted a brand-new story trailer that featured the Dark Crusader on their journey against the arisen demon-god, Adyr. We swiftly followed this with the release of an extended cut of the breath-taking trailer.

During Gamescom itself, our Lords of the Fallen theatre in the entertainment area saw lengthy queues of patient gamers as they waited to watch a live 20-minute walkthrough of a brand-new, never-seen-before area of the game. Called Fitzroy Gorge, the area provides an awesome backdrop to – among other things – an epic battle against the Lightreaper, scourge of the Mournstead skies, atop his three-headed winged monstrosity. You can watch the walkthrough for yourself right now, but we also captured some of the reactions from people as they left the theatre in Cologne…

The countdown is now well and truly on for launch, and it won’t be long until the epic adventure across the realms of Axiom and Umbral begins! We’re thrilled to be able share to the journey with you.
