CI Games has announced the appointment of Tom O’Connor as Senior Vice President of Development. O’Connor’s most recent role was at Tencent Games, where he served as Senior Director of Production. Closely collaborating with studio leadership, he played a pivotal role in the overall strategy and management of its Western game studios, including Sumo Group and Sharkmob, and helped drive and empower their further growth.
Prior to Tencent Games, Tom spent 15 years at PlayStation, where he managed a suite of development studios and partners to deliver multiple titles across the company’s hardware platforms, most notably the LittleBigPlanet franchise.
At CI Games, O’Connor joins as a critical part of the executive leadership team reporting into CEO, Marek Tyminski, and will oversee and help coordinate the company’s internal and external studios across CI Games and United Label – as they continue to develop Project III and Project Survive among other titles. His appointment to the role is fundamental to CI Games’ strategic restructuring, which was announced at the start of the year.
Marek Tyminski, CEO, CI Games, said: “On behalf of the executive leadership team – and the company as a whole – I want to welcome Tom to CI Games. He joins at a crucial time as we continue to improve the efficiency and quality of our titles – building on the business optimisations we’ve made over the last six months – and help execute the company strategy through the growth of our owned IPs going forward.”
Tom O’Connor, SVP of Development, CI Games, said: “I want to thank Marek and the rest of the team for the warm welcome to CI Games. I recognise the current strengths of the company – and the strides it’s already made to meeting its strategic objectives – and have a clear vision on how I can spearhead its production frameworks in order to take CI Games to the next level.”
